1) Fill out a Union Application as soon as you get hired. Why? Your union dues begin accruing 30 days from your date of hire. We don't want you to get behind. Can I wait to sign up until my probation period is over? No, your dues begin 30 days after your date of hire.
2) As a new hire you are responsible for paying your initiation fee. When do I have to pay this? You have 6 months from your date of hire to get this paid. How much is the initiation fee? $350.00. Do I have to pay it all in one lump sum? No, you can pay it in payments as long as it is paid within 6 months from your date of hire. Please call us to with questions or to make payment arrangements. Will I get a bill? You will get a delinquent letter monthly until your dues are current & your initiation fee is paid in full. This reminds you what your balance is. What if I don't pay? Your job will be in jeopardy and / or you will not be able to vote or participate in any Union activities. 3) Member in good standing What is a member in good standing? Being a member in good standing means your dues are current & your initiation fee is paid in full.
